20 Smartest Things Jeff Bezos Has Ever Said

As I’m writing this, I am trying to figure out why I’m not good buddies with Jeff Bezos after reading The 20 Smartest Things Jeff Bezos Has Ever Said; this is the concatenated business bible that everyone should follow – one way or another. Here are a few of my favs:

1.”All businesses need to be young forever. If your customer base ages with you, you’re Woolworth’s.”

3. “Your margin is my opportunity.”

4. “If you only do things where you know the answer in advance, your company goes away.”

7. “If you’re not stubborn, you’ll give up on experiments too soon. And if you’re not flexible, you’ll pound your head against the wall and you won’t see a different solution to a problem you’re trying to solve.”

8. “Any business plan won’t survive its first encounter with reality. The reality will always be different. It will never be the plan.”

9. “In the old world, you devoted 30% of your time to building a great service and 70% of your time to shouting about it. In the new world, that inverts.”

12. “We innovate by starting with the customer and working backwards. That becomes the touchstone for how we invent.”

15. “I think frugality drives innovation, just like other constraints do. One of the only ways to get out of a tight box is to invent your way out.”

16. “If you double the number of experiments you do per year, you’re going to double your inventiveness.”

17. “If you never want to be criticized, for goodness’ sake don’t do anything new.”

20. “You want to look at what other companies are doing. It’s very important not to be hermetically sealed. But you don’t want to look at it as if, ‘OK, we’re going to copy that.’ You want to look at it and say, ‘That’s very interesting. What can we be inspired to do as a result of that?’ And then put your own unique twist on it.”

OK, maybe it’s not just a few, but everything that Jeff Bezos has said has been true; even after adding state tax, Amazon is still that successful business model to follow. Even if you sell only a few products and you follow only a few of the above rules, Bezos’ Method of Kaizen can help you and anyone else achieve their goals.

Thanks for your time.

How to Have a Merry Christmas No Matter What

Just so you know, before you continue, if you’re a greedy person, then you’re not interested in what I have to offer you today. Also, if you’re an egotistical person, then you won’t find much use for what I have to tell you.

Sadness can hit anyone, even during the Holidays. All things relative, Happiness is a matter of perspective. For example, where greedy, egotistical, and psychotic people for that matter, find happiness, the rest of us suffer in great sadness.

All things relative, where I might feel sadness because of some bad situation, I remember that someone who is much more deserving than me is worse off. All I have to do is listen to the evening news and hear about a shooting or a Hurricane Sandy Victim. Damn, what kind of Christmas is that?

So I go through my archives and try to remember what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. For example, The real birth date of Jesus Christ reminds me only too well that we’re living according to the convenience of our  predecessors – not ourselves. That is, we’re more accepting of how “authority” wants us to celebrate the birth of Christ rather than the Birth of Christ, Himself.

When I say, “authority,” I mean whomever and whatever pushes that commercial Christmas bandwagon. For example, my bro bought this Christmas cartoon for some reason; it was some kind of “Ice Age” theme wherein these prehistoric animal characters were celebrating “Christmas.”That’s right, before Christ was born, but, somehow, a human Santa Claus existed in prehistoric times to give presents to all the prehistoric creatures on “Christmas” day.

Then I thought to myself, “how royally confusing is this for young minds who are not being taught about Jesus Christ?”

Well, I’m not going to stop and teach you anything about Jesus Christ, but I AM going to ask you to do something you don’t normally do. I’m asking you to see the Christ in the people around you. That is, I’m asking you to see the goodness, the sacrifice, the sanctity, the devotion, the kindness, the generosity, and the love in the people around you.

True, we are all individuals with our own temperaments. We’re not always at our best, but, at Christmas Time, We Try. Then we show appreciation to each other for trying to be at our best with a gift. Some people may find the idea of trying to see the Christ in others as ludicrous. All we have to do is remember a piece of scripture:

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” [Genesis 1:27]

For some religious zealots, not all, humanity is so full of sin and so far beneath heaven that WE are completely separated from God. Indeed, the more gothic thinkers believe that they are not worthy of God, therefore, what need is there for healing thoughts or goodness?

In each one of us, there is just as much capacity for good as well as evil. Within each one of us, there is just as much capacity for love as well as hatred.

What really matters is your perspective. Yeah, you saw this coming. Just like that Christmas Carol wherein Scrooge had his ghostly visitations and changed his perspective – in all likely hood, you are also looking for that miracle, those miraculous visitations before you change anything – is that right?

Guess what? We’ve had those visitations, and we’ve been getting those visitations for a while now. The problem is, most of us are like those Native Americans at Plymouth Rock when the first Pilgrams came across the ocean: The Natives did not recognize such large ships, so they couldn’t see them for what they were – large ships.

By the same token, most of us are unable to recognize those visitations because they have been so absolutely huge, yet, they’re right there, in front of our noses. A few of us do notice these visitations – and the rest of us are calling them “crazy.”

You’re probably wondering what I’m talking about. All you have to do is try and recognize the Christ within your closest friends and family when you give them their gifts. Then you will see the bigger picture on how you can have Merry Christmas no matter what happens. Your visitations are waiting for you.

Healing Thoughts and Happy Holidays,

How do You Vote? By Your Caucus or Your Conscience? part 2

So, here I am nearly $1000 down and one new, custom PC up. What have we learned from this? We pay the price to stay connected – whether to our work or socially. Some of us pay a much bigger price to feel connected, important, respected. Some of us pay a much bigger price to feel like part of something bigger – sometimes at the cost of others.

For example, people go to church, so they can feel like they are part of something bigger, but there’s not much of a price being paid there unless you’re following a cult leader or TV evangelist.

Other sunday activities include farmer’s markets. Have you ever been to your local farmer’s market? There’s usually a lot of hustle and bustle (aka hubu), especially when the crowd gets bigger. I have a friend who told me about one day when he was at the local farmer’s market with his 80 year old mother.

One of the younger hubus who like to run around with wheeled cases behind them tripped up this 80 year old woman and caused her injuries (i.e. bruised her knee, then she fell and hurt her lip, her cheek, her brow, and broke her glasses). Evidently, the hubu felt guilty at the time and provided my friend with his name and phone number for a follow up.

A few days later when my friend called the younger hubu, he would admit to no wrong doing – because there was no police report and no medical documentation of the event. The hubu felt guilt free with a clear conscience – ready to return to the next farmer’s market, so he could join all the other hubus again. Of course, this is only one hubu story of many.

How do You Vote? By Your Caucus or Your Conscience? part 1

Let’s talk about our every day lifestyles rather than a general political election for the moment. Did you know that every decision you make counts as a vote? Every direction you take is a vote for THAT direction.

The type of soap you use, the type of food you eat, the type of clothes you wear, the type of car you drive, especially decisions about your health and money are all votes cast by you for a certain lifestyle. The question is: When you vote, are you voting with your conscience or are you going with the social trends?

Did you know that there are regular social experiments being performed on American Citizens? Perhaps, you have heard of the famous Milgram Experiments, whether or not you have taken psychology.

How to Practice Bravery, Courage, and Wisdom

Filed under: Disciplinary Studies,Philosophy,Self Improvement,Spiritual Control — HealingMindN @ 03:35

A key moment in the life of legendary “Simpsons” writer George Meyer occurred at Fox one day when Matt Groening invited Meyer to have lunch with him and the artist R. Crumb, whose work Meyer loves. Crumb carries a sketchbook at all times, and he let Meyer look through it. ‘When I gave it back to him,’ Meyer said, ‘I thanked him for letting me see his stuff, and he said, with a really sheepish look on his face, “My life is an open book.” For some reason, that statement was like a trigger in my mind.’

Meyer spent an entire session with his psychologist during which he would dissolve into racking sobs every time he tried to say that sentence — a session he believes was the turning point in his therapy. ‘Up until that moment, I guess, my life had not been an open book, and I hadn’t had the courage to risk being myself, or to put myself out there in an unedited way. It was a very powerful experience. Now I can’t sob like that, even as a party trick.’

I hope this third and final installment on courage IS an open book to all who find it. WE, all of us, gain important personality facets through example and the impression those examples make in our minds. For example, there are real life heros who demonstrate bravery.

For lack of personal examples within our own lives, we look to celebrities, historical figures or even fictional characters to inspire our courage in the form of anecdotes. We are inspired by stories that resonate with us at a deep level.

In the following segment, Jim McElwee elaborates upon courage as a relative concept. As in the anecdote on George Meyer, he was emotionally engrossed about a “fear” that most others would consider inconsequential. All things relative, let’s “open the book” on bravery and courage:

Foundation of Success: Self Confidence, part 1 of 4

There are certain basic foundations of character that I do not cover at my site. One of them is self confidence. We need self confidence to trust our instincts, our intuition, and, of course, our psychic powers.

We all must take those necessary steps, no matter how small, in order to bolster and strengthen our self confidence to do what’s necessary and good for ourselves and the people closest to us.

Since I was very young, I had a kind of “shell” that detoured from self confidence. As I recall from when I was a 5th grader with Miss English as my instructor, there was an after school music instructor who introduced concepts of music to the class by our participation in a song with one note xylophones wherein we would hit our note at the correct time.

I couldn’t hit my note exactly and the music teacher proceeded to make an example / laughing stock out of me in front of the other kids. When I noticed that some of the other kids didn’t hit their note exactly right either, but did not suffer the same attitude adjustment, that put me right off of music for at least half my life.

I would always pass the music classes during grade school from that day forward wondering what my life would be like, if only I felt accepted for my little imperfections.

I also wonder how many other children have suffered the same fate because of heartless teachers who enjoy destroying young, developing egos.

Parents, in particular, need to understand the importance of participating in a child’s life in order to bolster their child’s confidence. By the time my parents had me, they didn’t care about my upbringing. I can’t help but wonder how many kids have suffered the fate of adults who pick and choose who they believe needs that extra support.

We must also realize that most adults are not much more than kids themselves, therefore, they don’t know how to raise kids. Their general philosolphy is, “my parents raised me fine, so I must know how to be a good parent too.” Therefore, the problem becomes generational.

How I wish I had access to the self improvement tools we have today. Fortunately, there are people like Jim McElwee who cover such a basic foundation of character as self confidence. Jim McElwee is like the Rudolph Steiner of self improvement and personal growth; he opens our eyes and hearts to these concepts that allow us to grow beyond our shortcomings bred into us by our so-called “mentors.”

Please enjoy part 1 of the following guest article by Jim McElwee:

“The End of the Beginning of the End” on the Gulf Disaster

Gerald O’Donnell has provided us with a few thoughts concerning the Gulf oil spill at “Beginning of the end or the End of Our Beginning?” Gerald is the designer of the ARVARI Remote Viewing and Remote Influencing Courses:

Hello Dear friend,

I wish I could just send you beautiful cotton-candy fluffed news. Sometimes, reality calls for a check and opening to Higher awareness outside of one’s bubble of reality.

Please forgive me, if I do not immediately put a smile on your face. However, what should soon happen, if we all react properly, will be pure bliss to all of us.

We, at the Academy of Remote Viewing and Influencing Reality have done much Remote Viewing work recently about the current world events and our most probable future by getting information from the level of One beyond the Delta level.

Because of the seriousness with which we view the potential proximate end of this Creational experiment, we would like to share the following article.

http://probablefuture.com/Beginning%20or%20End.htm

Our work indicates that our horizon looks very much filled with very dark clouds.

Darkness, as unconsciousness, is leaking everywhere.

I beg you to spread this link and message far and fast, to as many individuals and postings, as you possibly can. I do need your help in posting this all around.

This is not only about me or only about you; it is about all of us, and our common survival as a family.

Thank you.

Much Love

Gerald O’Donnell
